Five years ago, Fox Communications was brought on to represent Velaa Private Island, already known within the industry as a stunning, luxury destination, our objective was to take it from one of the best hotels in the Maldives to one of the top five hotels in the world.

Services Provided:

  • Curated a brand story by drawing out the personal narrative of the island, along with the owner's intention to create an island that soared above what is become to be knows as 'luxury'.
  • Extensive coverage has included The Daily Telegraph, The Financial Times, Forbes, Tatler, Elite Traveler, The Times, Wallpaper Magazine, Spear’s, Robb Report and The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

We accomplished this through creative and targeted storytelling. Our messaging was that Velaa Private Island is more than a beautiful resort, it is an ultra-luxe haven for the world’s most discerning holidaymakers.

We began by pitching Velaa Private Island, alongside other internationally acclaimed resorts worldwide rather than just Maldives properties. We curated a brand story, by drawing out the personal narrative of the island, along with the owner’s intention to create an island resort that soared above what has come to be known as traditional luxury. Our headline: ‘Not Merely a Resort. This is About a Dream.”

As well as clever storytelling angles to take

Story angles included:

The ultimate gentleman’s getaway – taking the Maldivian stereotype away from romance seeking couples, we focused on the resort’s award-winning golf course, impressive wine cellar (the Maldives’ largest) their on site private submarine, jet skis and stylish cigar lounge. This resulted in a DPS in investment publication City AM.

The most exclusive kids’ club in the world. Again, steering away from the predictable targets of honeymooners, we showcased the kids club and family offering. As the owner’s 7-year old daughter was instrumental in the design we focused our stories on how this kids’ club includes everything a child could possibly wish for.

Reflecting this year’s top travel trend of personalisation, we created a message of ‘privacy personified’ which focused on the ways in which Velaa’s brings new meaning to a private escape for every type of guest – all offerings are bespoke and personally tailored, and no request deemed impossible.
