Fox Communications is delighted to announce its recent appointment as the UK PR agency for Shangri-La Group; pioneers of Asian hospitality with 107 hotels and resorts in over 22 countries.
As well as leading a creative strategy in the UK to increase brand awareness and positioning for Shangri-La hotels globally, the collaboration will focus on seven key destinations: Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius; Shangri-La Paris; Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul; Shangri-La Al Husn and Shangri-La Al Jissah, Oman; and Shangri-La Colombo and Shangri-La Hambantota in Sri Lanka.
Founded in 1971 by Robert Kuok – who was inspired by travel experiences in some of the finest hotels in Europe – with the opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, today the Group owns, operates and manages a family of four brands: Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Kerry Hotels, JEN, and Traders. Kuok’s belief is that every stranger be warmly welcomed as a friend. Over 50 years on, the Group is still renowned for its heartfelt service and being a ‘home away from home’.
Headquartered in Hong Kong, which is home to flagship property Island Shangri-La, the Group has now expanded into key gateway cities and markets around the world, with properties sitting on some of the world’s most compelling destinations and prestigious addresses – including Shangri-La The Shard, London.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Fox Communications, a leading force in luxury PR,” said Laura Baker, Assistant Vice President, Corporate Communications – Europe. “Their expertise in strategic communications, brand storytelling, and high-impact campaigns makes them the perfect partner to elevate the Shangri-La brand in the UK market. I look forward to working alongside their talented team to create meaningful connections and drive exceptional results.”
Key Properties for 2025:
Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius
Shangri-La Le Touessrok is a legendary hideaway on the island’s eastern coast, housing six, sugar-white beaches, verdant tropical gardens, and luxurious facilities – including Chi, The Spa, access to two championship golf courses, two swimming pools, and Ilot Mangénie, a private island retreat exclusive to guests. A Mauritian icon for over 40 years, 2024 was a milestone in the resort’s history: an extensive four-and-a-half-month renovation saw the property reopening in October 2024 with enhanced guestrooms and suites (all of which are beachfront) and the addition of two new dining spaces: TSK – Touessrok Soul Kitchen, inspired by a Mauritian home and fusing local flavours with international flare, and Coco’s, a contemporary restaurant located on Hibiscus Beach with panoramic lagoon views.
Shangri-La Paris
The former private mansion of Prince Roland Bonaparte, Shangri-La Paris is a Parisian grand dame with the best views of the Eiffel Tower in the city. An architectural gem dating back to the 19th Century, the Palace’s 100 rooms and suites offer breathtaking views of Parisian landmarks (including suites facing the Eiffel Tower) and are adorned with crystal chandeliers, carved fireplaces, and painted frescoes. A Chi, The Spa, houses a 17-metre swimming pool (the largest in the city) bathed in natural light. Dine at La Bauhinia restaurant in a tranquil garden setting, or Shang Palace – Paris’ only Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant.
Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul
A fusion of Eastern and Western cultures in the heart of Istanbul, this hotel offers sweeping views of the Bosphorus Strait, located in a former tobacco factory dating back to the roaring twenties. 186 rooms and suites are opulently designed, while four restaurants offer fine international cuisine, including the award-winning Shang Palace. Cultural immersion is central to Shangri-La Bosphorus Istanbul: from Chi, The Spa, home to a traditional Turkish Bath and Hammam, to behind-the-scenes experiences such as the art of Turkish coffee marking; an Ebru Marble Art workshop; and a Baklava bakery experience (make sure to stop by the Baklava Butler at the hotel for traditional flavours).
Shangri-La Al Husn & Shangri-La Al Jissah, Oman
Shangri-La Al Husn and Shangri-La Al Jissah occupy the same sprawling site, snug between rugged mountains and the Arabian Sea. Adults-only Shangri-La Al Husn, which opened in April 2006 and was renovated in February 2022, sits on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of Oman, with 180 rooms and suites. Discover romantic clifftop dining experiences; Oman’s first and only Luban (Frankincense) spa; and an aerial yoga pavilion overlooking the striking Muscat arch. Neighbouring Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah is a haven for adventurous families – tiny travellers can even use their own dedicated check-in with the hotel mascot, Habibi the Turtle – home to the sole and longest lazy river in Muscat and a turtle sanctuary: this is one of the country’s top five turtle nesting sites, with hatchings from May-August.
Shangri-La Colombo, Sri Lanka
At Shangri-La Colombo, an oceanfront hotel overlooking the historic Galle Face Green and Beira Lake, travellers will find an urban retreat in Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital. 541 elegant rooms, suites, and serviced apartments with uninterrupted views span 35-floors, with a Chi Spa and world-class cuisine at seven restaurants and bars, including the renowned Shang Palace. Guests have direct access to shopping paradise, One Galle Face Mall, the city’s premier mall, and the hotel is no stranger to hosting striking events, from weddings to corporate retreats in Sri Lanka’s largest banqueting space.
Shangri-La Hambantota, Sri Lanka
A 3-hour drive from Colombo, this serene sanctuary spans 58 hectares on the country’s southern coast. Sprawling tropical gardens house world-class amenities, including 3 outdoor swimming pools and a family-friendly waterpark. Golf enthusiasts can practice their swing on Sri Lanka’s only 18-hole golf course while adventurers can head out to discover the surrounding nature and wildlife in Yala National Park, where elephants and leopards roam. The Chi Ayurveda Spa has partnered with South East Asia’s famous Ayurvedic healing centre, the Siddhalepa Group, to offer guests traditional Ayurvedic treatments using ancient healing remedies.
