Elevating its extensive spa offering, Fairmont Windsor Park will see the addition of a Monk Ice Bath to its wellness facilities

Fairmont Windsor Park is thrilled to announce its partnership with the world’s first smart ice bath, Monk. Backed by athletes, leaders and technologists, Monk is an innovative health tech company launching the world’s first smart ice bath and cold-water therapy app. Its collaboration with Fairmont Windsor Park is its first and only hotel partnership ahead of its launch this year and marks the hotel’s commitment to pioneering wellness.

Set to become the world leader in cold water therapy, Monk is on a mission to help people take conscious control of their mental, physical, and emotional health. Standing as the inaugural corporate partner to embrace Monk upon its launch, Fairmont Windsor Park will offer its guests an exclusive opportunity to experience and trial this innovative product, demonstrating the hotel’s commitment to staying ahead of the game in terms of its wellness technology and offerings. Available to all guests staying at the hotel, the addition of a Monk ice bath elevates the hotel’s spa offering even further, and its sleek and premium aesthetic fits seamlessly into the hotel’s prestigious spa design.

The addition of the ice bath will also come with an accompanying app, which acts as a cold water therapy coach, providing a connected, immersive experience with guided plunges and programmes tailored to the user and their goal, whether that’s muscle recovery, mental health, or a stress reset. Monk’s signature Acclimatisation Programme will coach complete beginners, taking them from 10°c slowly down to 3°c, safely and effectively with breathwork, soundscapes, and guided audio. It also connects with 40+ wearables, so users can track their data and see how Monk impacts important health metrics like sleep and heart rate variability.

The Monk Ice Bath will join Fairmont Spa & Wellness, a sprawling oasis that sets an unprecedented standard in the UK in one of the country’s leading wellness hotels. The sanctuary features 18 treatment rooms, a six-person hammam, a cryotherapy chamber, a 20m indoor pool, a Himalayan salt room, and a courtyard hydrotherapy vitality pool. State-of-the-art fitness facilities, including indoor and outdoor gyms, complemented by a range of studio classes such as yoga and Pilates, offer a comprehensive wellness experience, strengthened further by a team of exceptionally skilled and caring therapists. The team works closely together to ensure each treatment is tailored to the individual for a deeply personal and meaningful experience every time.

Commenting on the partnership with Fairmont Windsor Park, Laura Fullerton, CEO of Monk, says: “It’s truly an honour to have Fairmont Windsor Park as our first hotel partner, offering their members and guests this exclusive experience, while sharing our vision to build a product that truly transforms the way we plunge“.

Rebecca Doyle, Spa and Wellness Director at Fairmont Windsor Park, says: “Traditionally, gyms have focused primarily on cardio and strength workouts, with recovery often limited to basic stretching. However, with the introduction of technology like Monk’s smart ice baths, there is now an opportunity to provide a comprehensive recovery experience that addresses both mental and physical well-being, marking a significant evolution in how wellness and recovery are approached, and we are so proud to be able to offer this at Fairmont Windsor Park”.

Founded in 2021, Monk is driven by a collective of elite athletes, biohackers, mental health advocates, and tech entrepreneurs, spearheaded by cold water therapy advocate, Laura Fullerton. Their latest fundraising round saw it secure £2million ahead of its launch later this year, helping the brand extend its reach globally, with investors including boxer Anthony Joshua, and BrewDog CEO James Watt. Launching in June 2024, the waitlist is already exceeding 3,000 people, attracting a host of A-list celeb customers including entrepreneurs, actors, and athletes playing at the highest level. Monk’s smart ice bath, which retails at £5,995, is the first of its kind with self-cleaning ozone filtration (no chemicals needed) and an in-built cooling unit that moderates water temperature from the touch of a button.

Commenting on the product, Monk investor and frequent Fairmont Windsor Park guest Anthony Joshua says: “For me, ice baths are about mental resilience as much as they are physical recovery. When I heard about Monk, it was clear to me: this is a wellness innovation with new technology that would help me be a better athlete and human. I’ve witnessed the evolution of Monk first-hand, and I see a future where cold water therapy is transformed into an accessible, integrated part of our daily lives. I stand with Monk – not just as an investor, but as a true believer in their mission to become the world leaders in cold water therapy.”
