The UK’s First Climate Positive Hotel Launches New Experiences for 2024

February 2024: Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa, the charming getaway in the Cotswolds village of Malmesbury, has plenty to excite guests in 2024, including becoming the UK’s first climate positive hotel. The property has also launched new experiences for pampered pups, spa aficionados and epicurean adventurers to enjoy this year.

The UK’s First Climate Positive Hotel & Spa
Pioneering a transformative approach that redefines sustainable luxury in hospitality, Whatley Manor is the first Climate Positive hotel and spa in the UK. As of this year, the property removes more carbon from the atmosphere than it emits, following a five-year sustainability and decarbonisation journey encompassing energy efficiency, waste reduction, community engagement and funding climate action. Whatley Manor partners with NOW and EarthCheck to verify and audit its sustainability measures, whilst funding climate action by investing in a Cookstove Projects in Kenya and purchasing high-quality carbon credits certified by Gold Standard. The hotel is committed to achieving Climate Positive each year, marking a significant step on its journey to net zero.

Petflix and Chill
One of the finest pet-friendly hotels in the Cotswolds, Whatley Manor is enticing canine guests with a new ‘Petflix and Chill’ package. Cuddle-up on the sofa with a tub of dog-friendly Marshfield Farm ice-cream, Barking Bakery Pupcorn (cheese) and bottle of Pawsecco to watch a flick from the hotel’s library of puppy-led classics, including All Dogs Go to Heaven, Marley & Me and A Dog’s Purpose, all delivered directly to your room alongside a glass of Gusbourne English wine and popcorn for human guests. £50; dogs stay free until 31 March 2024.

Sothys Illuminating Facial
Whatley Manor is one of only two hotels in the UK to partner with Parisian wellness brand Sothys on a collection of rejuvenating treatments at its Aquarias Spa. New for 2024, the Illuminating Professional Facial Treatment targets and treats dark skin spots, while hydrating skin and refining the complexion. The six-step treatment involves a cleanse and exfoliation, targeted dark spot action, radiance face mask, illuminating cream application and facial, with active ingredients such as white nettle extract to visibly balance pigmentation (1hr 15mins; £150).

Chef Collaboration Series
The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, The Dining Room, will host a series of chef collaborations in 2024, kicking off with a four-hands dinner on 6 March, with Michelin maestro, Charles Coloumbeau, Chef Patron of Le Maison dans le Parc in France, joining Executive Chef Ricki Weston in the kitchen (£145pp; wine flight from £95pp). On 13 March, Ricki will be joined by celebrated chefs Ollie Bridgwater, Executive Chef at Spice, Gilpin Hotel & Lakehouse, and Douglas Balish of Grove of Narberth, brought together by PoB Hotels for a six-hands ‘Seasoned to Perfection’ dinner. Each chef will bring their own culinary flare to a six-course menu of dishes that complement each other and celebrate British produce (£165pp; £10 per cover donated to Hospitality Action).

Restaurant Updates
From February 2024, Grey’s will open seven days a week for dinner, allowing guests to dine on the menu of seasonal British dishes created by Ricki Weston. To coincide with this, new menus will be launched in Grey’s and The Dining Room. Previously open Wednesday – Sunday, the extended opening ensures guests, locals and visitors can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and high-end dining experience every night of the week. The hotel will also open up its cosy lounges for guests to enjoy afternoon tea and a substantial menu suitable for all-day dining.
