This summer, Como Hotels and Resorts are inviting young explorers to become Island Astronauts, through a one-of-a-kind camp at COMO MaalfushiCOMO Point Yamu and COMO Uma Canggu. Open to guests aged 8-16, this unique space camp will provide first-hand knowledge about space from NASA veteran astronaut Nicole Stott and citizen astronaut Sarah Sabry. Through a captivating program focused on art, food, movement, and the environment, participants will be immersed in a world of exploration and education.

Discover the thrill of adventure as you explore the wonders of space in an unforgettable and impactful way. Led by renowned experts Nicole Stott or Sarah Sabry, the space camps offer a complimentary opt-in itinerary designed to educate and inspire aspiring astronauts.

During the camp, young explorers will embark on an exciting journey where they will have the chance to experience the power of teamwork through the creation of stunning body art visible from above, emphasizing the importance of unity. They will also delve into the world of space nutrition as they craft and taste their very own space food creations, gaining insights into the unique challenges of eating in space. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to explore the role of art in space by assisting in the design and personalization of a space suit, allowing their creativity to take flight in the cosmic realm.

Whilst the guests won’t get to go to space themselves, what they create will. The space suits will be worn by real astronauts and their handwritten letters will be sent up into orbit through Nicole Stott’s ‘Postcards to Space’ project, to put a smile on the brave travellers faces before being returned to the guest as a special keepsake. The excitement continues as guests are invited to bring their families along to create their own mini rockets and witness the exhilarating blast-offs.

The space camp itineraries are fun, educational, and immersive, but that’s not all. Set in some of the world’s most beautiful locations, each space camp is thoughtfully designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings, providing guests with a unique chance to make a positive impact on our planet, which can be observed from space. Engaging in various environmental activities, participants are offered exclusive insights from renowned experts like Nicole Stott and Sarah Sabry, enlightening them about the visible deterioration of our environment from above.
