The Best New Hotel Openings for 2021, in Europe and Beyond

After a turbulent year for travel, we’re banking on 2021 for bigger and brighter things – starting with the launch of these highly anticipated new luxury hotels

From the renowned Nobu Hotels’ first hotel in Africa and a new adults-only, romantic resort in Rhodes, to a design-led heaven in Crete and an all-suite, golfer’s paradise hotel in Mallorca, here are the best new luxury hotels opening next year.

Fairmont Windsor Park

Primely positioned adjacent to Windsor Great Park and Savill Gardens, the new Fairmont Windsor Park will be the UK’s leading wellness retreat comprising a sprawling spa spanning 2,500 square metres with indoor and outdoor pools, 18 treatments rooms, a salt room, Hamman and Japanese foot spa. Led by wellness experts, guests can expect advanced consultations, transformative treatments and personalized pathways to guide recovery and rehabilitation of the mind, body and spirit.

Set in beautifully landscaped gardens, the new hotel will resemble an English countryside sanctuary, carefully blending modern elegance with mindful design following a multi-million-pound redevelopment of the former Savill Court Hotel. A home away from home, each of the 200 guestrooms and suites will be spacious, comfortable and classic in design, furnished to a combination of natural stone and soft textures, with many offering sweeping views of the surrounding gardens.

Quintessentially British and true to its regal setting, the new retreat will also be home to a sumptuous Tea Lounge, sophisticated Champagne Bar, botanical Gin Bar and a fine dining Restaurant to complete the picture.

Nobu Hotel Marrakech

Nobu Hospitality is delighted to announce its continuing global expansion into Marrakech, Morocco, with the opening of a new Nobu Hotel and Restaurant – the brand’s first foray into Africa. Where rich heritage meets the brand’s contemporary flair, Nobu Hotel Marrakech will be located in the Hivernage district, just steps from the historic heart of the city, souks and vibrant Djemaa el-Fna. The hotel will house 71 spacious guest rooms and suites, a selection of dynamic dining venues and rooftop spaces, luxurious spa and fitness centre with in and outdoor swimming pools and meeting and event spaces – providing a unique luxury lifestyle destination.

The hotel is a collaboration between Hivernage Collection, MC Hotels (the owners of Nobu Hotel Marbella, Marbella Club Hotel and joint owners of Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay) and Nobu Hospitality and will lead the transformation of The Pearl Marrakech into a Nobu Hotel and Restaurant in the third quarter of 2021. Nobu Hotel Marrakech marks the brand’s nineteenth hotel, further to Nobu Hotel Chicago, Nobu Hotel Warsaw and Nobu Hotel London Portman Square successfully opening in 2020. Openings in Atlanta and Toronto are in the pipeline for 2021.

CAYO Exclusive Resort and Spa

Opening for its first full season in 2021, the highly anticipated CAYO Exclusive Resort and Spa boasts four gastronomic restaurants, mind-body balancing spa and unrivalled vistas of the iridescent Spinalonga islet. Poised on its own private swathe of seafront, Crete’s most stylish hotel overlooks the charming Elounda Bay and its unique terraced architecture blends seamlessly into the mountainous landscape and offers unparalleled access to the island’s tapestry of beaches, historic treasures and hilltop villages.

Drawing from a calming and neutral palette, Gian Paolo Venier – Italian designer and mind behind the interior – has blended cool greys, soft blues and greens with brushed marble, chic glass and stone in a nod toward the historical locale and architecture of nearby ancient city of Olous. Awash with natural daylight, rooms offer uninterrupted views of the ocean, complete with private terrace and heated plunge pool. CAYO was created with the environment in mind – alongside its innovative reusable energy sources, guests are greeted with a seedling, which they can plant anywhere around the resort.

With a farm to fork ethos, the menus at CAYO’s four restaurants use the freshest seasonal produce, locally sourced from selected eco-friendly farms and the resort’s own organic garden. Curated by Chef Lefteris Lazarou, the first Greek chef to be awarded with one Michelin Star, dishes range from authentic Greek to modern Mediterranean fare. In the spa, ancient rituals are combined with cutting-edge treatment techniques, based around the concept of the spiritual, cultural and natural environment. Promising to promote inner-peace and restore wellness, CAYO Spa houses three spacious treatment rooms, steam, sauna and relaxation pool. From Yoga and Pilates to detox therapies and mental wellbeing, the fitness centre takes guests on a personalised journey, and the expert team are on hand to curate a 360’ programme. This is Crete’s most stylish new luxury hotels.

As part of the experience travellers will be taken off-the-beaten-track to areas such as Seven Springs with verdant woodlands and pine-tree shaded walking trails. Guests can also learn to scuba dive with PADI certified instructors, try a range of thrilling water sports such as windsurfing and water-skiing, or visit a local vineyard to learn the unique production methods of local wine making, with Rhodes being the first wine producing region in Greece. As well as this, guests of Lindos Grand can try a world of local activities organised through their personal concierge. From picturesque cliff-top horse riding to guided hiking tours, or a visit to the nearby Butterfly Valley where adventurers can witness the natural phenomenon of thousands of colourful butterflies congregating amongst the lush greenery and beautiful waterfalls.

Zafiro Palace Andratx

Spring 2021 will see the opening of Zafiro Palace Andratx, a new, all-suite, 5-star Palace Hotel within the Zafiro Hotels portfolio, bringing a breath of fresh air to the Mallorcan coastline.  Set in Camp de Mar, a picturesque village sheltered by mountains and full of natural charm, the hotel is steps away from a blue flag, sandy beach and 10-minutes from the ancient town of Andratx, with its quaint narrow streets, rural heritage and sprawling farmlands alive with oranges, olives and grapes.

All 304 contemporary suites are spacious and light-filled with a selection of junior suites with private pools, penthouse suites with private terraces and plunge pools, and an owner’s suite overlooking the bay of Camp de Mar.
