A Glamourous Gateway Into Moroccan Culture Es Saadi Marrakech Resort

Arguably the most on trend destination on the globe right now, Morocco has played host to an array of star-studded and royal celebrations; from actor Idris Elba’s wedding and Madonna’s 60th birthday party, to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s last trip before becoming parents. Fashion house Dior has also recently chosen to debut their 2020 collection in Marrakech, and as the world turns its eye towards this culturally rich country, we take a look at Marrakech’s most glamourous hotel which provides a unique gateway into exploring authentic Morocco, the 5-Star Es Saadi Marrakech Resort.

Beauty and Wellness

With Dior choosing to debut their brand-new fashion collection in Morocco, Es Saadi provides the ideal destination to relax in the only other Dior Institut in a hotel outside of Paris. Guests can indulge in facials, massages, makeovers and other beauty treatments inspired by Christian Dior, in order to experience true French-inspired luxury in the heart of Marrakech. This year, Es Saadi has also launched an exciting new anti-ageing beauty treatment, the 1001-night Kobido Facial, offering incredible, immediate results based on an ancient Japanese ritual performed by 15th century samurai warriors, combined with traditional and natural Moroccan elements.

Designed around a 100-year-old eucalyptus tree, the grand Es Saadi Palace Spa features a hydrotherapy circuit with counter flow swimming, a Moroccan Hamman, a hydro massage bath as well as an Oriental Thermae® and a PHYTO Hair Spa – a concept unique to Es Saadi.

Fashion and Culture

A globally recognized fashion destination, Yves Saint Laurent first visited Marrakech in 1966 and was captivated by the sprawling gardens at Es Saadi Marrakech Resort. Surrounded by eight hectares of grounds planted with orange trees, bougainvillea, roses, palm trees, and a “lagoon” swimming pool; Es Saadi was YSL’s regular winter holiday spot until his own home was built in the Jardin Majorelle.

To honour its local cultural heritage, the Es Saadi Palace is home to a library where guests can settle down with a fresh mint tea and take a plunge into French-Arabic history. With a partnership with the French Institute of Marrakech, Es Saadi guests can have a complimentary access to more than 3000 French books or magazines on local history, art and culture, available on their computers, tablets or smart phones.

Gastronomy

For traditional, high-class Moroccan cuisine, the iconic ‘La Cour des Lions’ restaurant is comprised of beautiful Andalusian-Arabic décor and offers panoramic views of the bustling city. A world-class dining destination within the Golden Triangle of Marrakech, ‘La Cour des Lions’ chef, Fatéma Hal, has dedicated her career to reigniting a passion for Moroccan food, and creates unique flavour combinations using subtle spices, fruity tagines and aromatic oils.

With a farm-to-fork philosophy, Es Saadi sources all fresh produce from their family owned farm, ‘Le Bled’, in an effort to reduce the carbon footprint of food through local suppliers. Embracing the SLOW (sustainable, local, organic, wellness) food movement, Es Saadi’s ‘Lagon & Jardin’ offers an expansive, healthy and delicious menu of organic vegetables, salads, nuts and herbs in their energy boosting Salad Bar, as well as low calorie and gluten-free options.

Art and Design

A feast for the soul, Es Saadi is home to more than 400 works of art and this year is proud to showcase some brand-new pieces, hand selected by Elizabeth Bauchet-Bouhal, CEO and successor of this family owned resort. The lavish collection includes figural and abstract paintings, large sculptures and frescoes from a range of young, emerging artists and renowned Moroccan talent reflecting the diversity of modern Morocco.
